In memory of Trenton Dambly

The City of Grass Valley Fire Department and its Firefighters are honored to start this fundraiser on behalf of Grass Valley Firefighter Trenton Dambly. Trenton suffered multiple severe and life-threatening injuries doing something that he loved as much as being a Firefighter – Motocross. The accident has left Trenton in a coma, with multiple systems trauma-based injuries. The Dambly family and his girlfriend, the Grass Valley Fire Department, and all of Trenton’s brothers and sisters from IAFF local 3800 are determined and committed to doing whatever it takes to help Trenton make a full recovery. This will be a long-term process, and we are asking our friends, family, and community to help Trenton through this challenging time in his life.

Trenton grew up in an outdoor motorsports family where his love for dirt bikes developed at an early age. Trenton is an accomplished motocross and trail rider admired by many in both worlds. Before Trenton was called to serve his community as a Firefighter, he had mastered the skills required to be a Lead Technician for Roseville Yamaha. Those customers who were lucky enough to have Trenton service their bikes described him as “meticulous.” He was known for disassembling brand-new bikes and servicing them as part of his “pre-delivery” service because the “quality that came out of the factory did not meet my standards.” That statement alone paints the picture of the type of man that Trenton Dambly is and what his character is all about. High standards for others, higher standards for himself. While working for Roseville Yamaha, Trenton fell in love with the fire service and felt convicted to “serve his community.” Trenton immediately put together a plan to accomplish his goals and put that plan into action. The process was not easy, and Trenton was met with significant adversity. But in typical Trenton fashion, he stayed focused on the plan and did not allow anything to get in his way of accomplishing his goals. After getting his EMT and completing the Sierra College Regional Fire Academy, Trenton worked for both Nevada City and the City of Grass Valley as an Intern to earn his California State Fire Fighter 1 Classification. During this same period, Trenton also worked as a Resident Firefighter for Cameron Park/CALFIRE. Trenton earned his first full-time Firefighter position with the City of Oroville. He spent almost two years proudly serving the residents of the city and surrounding communities of Butte County. Trenton returned home in August of 2021 to the Grass Valley Fire Department to serve the community that he said he “felt connected to because of the support and acceptance that they showered me with when I first started.” We often joked with Trenton that he was the Lifetime Probationary Firefighter! Trenton’s Co-workers often describe him as being “detail-oriented,” “passionate,” and “devoted.” Even when more senior firefighters needed assistance, they often sought Trenton for his guidance. Trenton’s perspective, dedication, passion, and presence will be missed in the fire stations as he recovers. Make no mistake about it; we are looking forward to his return!

Trenton’s family, friends, and coworkers pray for his successful recovery and know he will fight hard to get back. However, we also realize that he has an exceptionally long road ahead, and the recovery process will prevent Trenton from being able to serve his community. We humbly ask anyone who knows Trenton or has experienced his humble and compassionate personality to please consider supporting him during this challenging chapter of his life. ANY AMOUNT is a blessing to Trenton and his family.

All funds raised here will be used to assist with paying uncovered medical expenses, their mortgage, and other bills.
